Focke-Wulf 190 A-8 W.Nr unknown (Stephen Osman)
This data plate was obtained by an American serviceman from the Headquarters of the 405th FG at the end of the war. This was the Fighter Group based at Kitzingen when Hans-Ulrich Rudel and his comrades surrendered there on 8 May 1945, and also in this serviceman's collection were photos of the S.G. 2 aircraft. Thus the possibility exists that this data plate came from Major Karl Kennel's FW 190 A-8 W.Nr 171 189 'Black << + -'. I contacted Steve Polyak about this data plate, and he said that it is not clear if it is an airframe identification plate or a structural assembly (for example, fuselage) plate.
